Physical Benefits Of a Hot Tub

The Body Responds to Hydro Therapy

The alliance of heat, massage and buoyancy delivers a sensation that not only relaxes the mind and body, but also heals. This combination, called Hydrotherapy, increases blood flow, aids circulation, reduces muscle strain and soreness, and relieves pressure and tension throughout your body. Calculated buoyancy (and a corresponding feeling of weightlessness) blends perfectly with swirling warm water to deliver a relaxing soak with healing properties

With hydrotherapy, those muscular aches in your shoulders, back, feet, and neck truly melt away while you relax in a soothing hydrotherapy atmosphere. Joints will feel noticeably better in just 20 minutes.

If you have pain, hydrotherapy can help. The massage from hydrotherapy jets provide a gentle and effective massage - targeting your joints and muscles, promoting a better night's sleep and combating the pain of arthritis, fibromyalgia, and other muscle-related injuries. Safe, enjoyable and effective for the whole family, hydrotherapy and the health benefits of a quality hot tub will help everyone enjoy an active lifestyle.

To sustain and enjoy an active lifestyle you need to take care of yourself. Stretching, eating right and getting a good night's sleep are only part of the equation. Enabling your muscles to relax and recoup is key to enjoying and sustaining physical activity. Nothing beats a hot tub to attain these healthy goals in such a pleasurable way.

Pool and Spa News recently interviewed Dr Bruce Becker a man who has spent his life studying the beneficial effects of warm water.  Dr Becker is a research professor at Washington State University in Pullman, Wash., and director of its National Aquatics & Sports Medicine Institute. He also conducts various aquatic therapy studies for the National Swimming Pool Foundation in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

“It’s known that some of the effects we’ve seen with warm-water immersion are similar to those seen with meditation and also a number of medications that are used for stress management.”

In the early 80's Dr. Becker was team physician for Nike's Olympic Development Program.  He was amazed at how quickly athletes would recover when receiving "in pool" therapies.  However, the cooler temperatures in the swimming pool environment caused aggravation to the sympathetic nervous system. He was eager to try experiments where warmer water would be used.

Since then, his work has uncovered many new physical benefits and verified the instinctive benefits of warm water hydrotherapy.
